JioHotstar in talks with Karan Johar for Koffee with Karan 9; season likely to stream by year-end

We all know how Karan Johar likes his coffee - hot, with a dash of star quotient and gossip. And it looks like the filmmaker is ready for another cuppa. Industry insiders suggest that JioHotstar is in preliminary discussions with the host for the next season of his popular chat show, Koffee with Karan. If things fall in place, the ninth season could stream by the year-end.

According to sources at the platform, the executives are keen on the chat show as it allows sustained engagement with viewers. "Koffee with Karan delivers repeat value across clips and social media," noted a source.

If the new season works out, viewers can expect their favourite stars on the couch again as they banter with Johar, spill secrets, and play rapid fire. But it might be repackaged. The source added, "Karan is aware that the audience has changed. So, he may shorten the segments and make them more current. The guest list too will change with cross-industry pairings, South stars, OTT actors, and creators showing up on the couch. However, things are at an early stage. It's not a locked deal."
