Farah Khan has addressed social media users who accused her of being biased towards Lock Upp winner Shreya Kalra. The filmmaker and reality show co-host recently visited Shreya at her Mumbai home and discussed the criticism surrounding the latter's victory, including claims that Farah favoured her during the season.
Shreya emerged as the winner of Lock Upp last week after beating Shivangi Joshi in the finale. She took home the Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa trophy along with the Rs 1 crore prize money. However, a section of viewers expressed disappointment with the result, with some believing Yogesh Rawat or Shivangi deserved the title. Farah was also targeted online, with users accusing her of being partial towards Shreya.
In her latest vlog, Farah directly addressed the allegations while speaking to Shreya. She asked the winner whether they had known each other before the show.
"I want to ask on record, Shreya, have me ever before? Before I saw you on stage?" Farah asked. Shreya replied that they had not met before.
Farah then explained why she was surprised by the accusations of bias. "After two weeks I got to know because people started commenting that I was a biased host," she said.
She explained that the speculation stemmed from a professional connection between the two. According to Farah, Shreya's YouTube company and hers were managed by the same team, Qyuki. However, Farah said she was unaware of the connection when she first met Shreya.
"Why? Because her YouTube company and mine are managed by the same team named Qyuki. They have 70 content creators! So I called them and asked if Shreya is under them, and they said yes. But I didn't know, so how was I biased?" Farah said.
Shreya, however, offered a different perspective and recalled Farah's behaviour towards her during the early weeks of the show. She pointed out that Farah had frequently called her out.
"But the fact is that you were the one who picked on me from the beginning! In the first week you shouted on me and even when I was doing good, you were only shouting at me!" Shreya said.
She also recalled Farah's comments during her confrontation with Akanksha Choudhary, saying the host had told her not to become too pleased with herself.
Farah responded by rolling her eyes, insisting that she had never said Shreya was not doing well. The two then laughed off the exchange.
At the finale, the winner was determined through votes from jailers, former inmates and the Janta Ki Jury. Shreya was eventually declared the winner, while Shivangi appeared disappointed by the result. Shreya's close friend Shilpa Shinde was also seen getting emotional during the celebrations.
