Operation Safed Sagar teaser promises high-octane Kargil War action ahead of August 7 release

Netflix has unveiled the first teaser of Operation Safed Sagar, a military drama inspired by one of the Indian Air Force's most daring missions during the 1999 Kargil War. Set to premiere globally on August 7, the series promises to bring to the screen the untold story of the Golden Arrows Squadron and the high-risk aerial operation that became a defining moment in India's military history.

Inspired by real events, Operation Safed Sagar shifts the spotlight from the battlefield to the skies, chronicling the Indian Air Force's role during the Kargil conflict. The series follows the Golden Arrows Squadron as they take on one of the world's highest air wars, navigating dangerous missions, impossible odds and life-changing decisions while serving the nation.

Directed by Oni Sen and created by Abhijeet Singh Parmar and Kushal Srivastava, the series boasts an ensemble cast led by Siddharth, Jimmy Shergill, Abhay Verma, Dia Mirza, Prajakta Koli, Adil Hussain, Mihir Ahuja, Taaruk Raina, Arnav Bhasin and Amrita Bagchi.

Speaking about the project, producer Sanjay Routray said the story deserved to be told on a grand scale because it honours the courage, sacrifice and humanity of those who served during the war.

Operation Safed Sagar to premiere on August 7

Netflix India described Operation Safed Sagar as its first series inspired by the Indian Air Force's role in the Kargil War. Tanya Bami said the platform wanted to tell a story that had never been explored before while paying tribute to the bravery, camaraderie and split-second decisions that define the lives of Air Force pilots.

Co-creators Abhijeet Singh Parmar and Mehboob Pal Singh Brar revealed that the series goes beyond military action to explore the personal lives of the pilots, their families and the emotional cost of war. They added that recreating the world of the Air Force involved filming across more than 100 locations, including challenging schedules at altitudes exceeding 16,000 feet, alongside extensive visual effects to authentically recreate the operation.

Produced by Matchbox Shots and Feel Good Films, Operation Safed Sagar aims to blend large-scale action with intimate human stories, celebrating the service and sacrifice of the men and women who shaped one of India's most significant military operations. The series will premiere exclusively on Netflix on August 7.
