Tahir Raj Bhasin on Shaque co-star Parineeti Chopra: ‘It was like meeting someone from the same college’

What got Tahir Raj Bhasin instantly interested in Shaque: Trust No One was that creator Siddharth P Malhotra didn't try too hard to extract a yes from him. "I appreciate it when no one is hard-selling something. I was told, ‘Why don't you read this? Let's chat after that.' That's comforting because then you know the makers have faith in the material," the actor told mid-day.

In the Netflix mystery thriller led by Parineeti Chopra, Bhasin plays a father dealing with the aftermath of his baby's abduction. As he began reading the script, he was engrossed in the "page-turner". "It was a one night read for me. I love mysteries and thrillers. When I read Shaque, I liked the fact that the incident has happened in the mother's life but the surrounding people become pieces of the puzzle, and the audience starts playing detective."

Shooting with Chopra - who, like Bhasin, was launched by Yash Raj Films - only elevated his experience of working on the series. "We started our career at the same studio, but never worked together. When I sat with her, it was like meeting someone from the same college, just from a different batch," he smiled.
