Tomb Raider
Amazon MGM Studios has officially confirmed an expanded cast lineup for its upcoming Prime Video series Tomb Raider, adding several acclaimed names including Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Celia Imrie, and Bill Paterson. The high-profile series is based on the iconic Tomb Raider video game franchise and stars Sophie Turner in the lead role of legendary archaeologist-adventurer Lara Croft.
As previously announced, the series is being spearheaded by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who serves as creator, writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner, alongside Chad Hodge as co-showrunner and executive producer. The show marks a major reimagining of the globally popular franchise for television.
The newly revealed cast includes Sigourney Weaver as Evelyn Wallis, a mysterious and powerful figure keen on exploiting Lara's unique talents, and Jason Isaacs as Atlas DeMornay, Lara Croft's uncle - a character rooted in the game's canon. Bill Paterson joins the series as Winston, the Croft family's long-serving butler, while Martin Bobb-Semple plays Zip, Lara's trusted tech support and longtime ally.
Other additions include Celia Imrie as Francine, the champagne-loving Head of Advancement at the British Museum, and Jack Bannon as Gerry, Lara's personal pilot. John Heffernan portrays David, an overworked government official pulled into Lara's dangerous orbit, while Paterson Joseph appears as senior official Thomas Warner. The series also introduces new adversaries and allies, with Sasha Luss as Lara's fierce rival Sasha, Juliette Motamed as museum curator Georgia, and August Wittgenstein as Lukas, an illegal raider with a complicated past tied to Lara.
Expressing her excitement, Sophie Turner described Lara Croft as a powerful female role model who has long stood out in a male-dominated world. Phoebe Waller-Bridge added that the franchise's rich roster of characters allowed her to blend beloved fan favourites with brand-new faces, calling the cast "beyond my wildest dreams."
Peter Friedlander, Head of Amazon MGM Studios, said the addition of performers like Weaver and Isaacs brings depth and gravitas to the series, elevating the next chapter of Tomb Raider for Prime Video's global audience.
The series is directed and executive produced by Jonathan Van Tulleken and is backed by Amazon MGM Studios, Crystal Dynamics, Legendary Television, and Story Kitchen, among others.
