Mumbai: 19-year-old waiter arrested in Bhuleshwar for filming women in public toilet

Mumbai police have arrested a 19-year-old man after he was caught allegedly recording videos of women inside a public toilet. The police have arrested a 19-year-old man after he was caught allegedly recording videos of women inside a public toilet. The incident took place on Wednesday around 6.00 pm in the Bhuleshwar area.

Police said that two women, including a minor girl, approached a police patrol team near Atmaram Merchant Marg and reported that a man was filming them while they were using a public bathroom located in the Jai Hind Estate Building.

Acting swiftly on the information, police traced the suspect to Namo Hotel in Bhuleshwar where he works as a waiter and arrested him. Police have identified the accused as Rajan Kumar Pramod Chaupal. Police said that the victims refused to file a formal complaint; however, they proceeded to take legal action on their own by registering an FIR.

The accused has been booked under Section 77 (voyeurism) of the BNS and Section 12 (sexual harassment) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, confirmed Mohit Kumar Garg, deputy commissioner of police, zone II. He said that the accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is currently underway.
