A man climbed atop a Mumbai AC local train at Kalyan station on Tuesday afternoon, but the dangerous incident was quickly dealt with by railway authorities, averting any tragedy or delay in services, officials said.
According to the officials, the incident was reported at Kalyan railway station on platform number 7, where an individual was seen on the roof of a Badlapur-Dadar AC local train. The railway authorities immediately alerted officials after spotting the man, triggering urgent safety measures.
"To avoid any risk of electrocution, railway staff promptly switched off the Overhead Equipment (OHE) power at 14:40 hrs. This precaution ensured that the situation could be handled safely without danger to the individual or staff," officials said.

Officials said the rapid shutdown of electrical supply and teamwork played a crucial role in preventing a potential tragedy.
After a thorough safety inspection, the OHE power was restored at 14:52 hrs. The train resumed its journey shortly afterwards. The entire rescue operation was completed within 12 minutes.
The person has been identified as Malka Fidre (25). He was handed over to the Government Railway Police for further investigation and necessary legal action.
