Mumbai: A year later, cops yet to solve case of Mumbai tech killed in hit-and-run

The death of 22-year-old techie Archana Pandya, who was killed in a hit-and-run on the Western Express Highway last year in May, still remains unsolved. This is because of what police sources say was due to a inadequate CCTV footage where the mishap happened.

According to a report by The Indian Express, Pandya on her way home was attempting to catch an auto-rickshaw when she was hit by a vehicle. She reportedly lay there for about 20 minutes before being admitted to the nearby hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. The hit-and-run happened near the Vanrai Police Station.

Despite forming three investigating teams, probing nearly 200 vehicles that had passed the spot while Pandya was lying on the ground cops are still unable to trace the vehicle that hit her.

The police have been investigating the hit-and-run by studying footage from a mall's CCTV camera and another installed along the Aarey Bridge, which were put up owing to the increase in chain-snatchings in the area.
