Mumbaikars can now register complaints related to road potholes through the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) integrated grievance redressal platform, MyBMC MARG, the civic body said on Tuesday.
The facility has been introduced as part of the MyBMC MARG (Complaint Management and Redressal System) platform, which was launched earlier this year to provide residents with a single channel for registering and tracking civic complaints across multiple municipal services.
According to BMC, the platform currently enables citizens to lodge and monitor 114 categories of complaints related to municipal services through a single application.
The move comes ahead of the monsoon season, when potholes typically emerge on roads across the city due to heavy rainfall and increased wear and tear.
The BMC stated that it regularly undertakes repair work based on complaints received from residents and has been using digital tools to improve the reporting and resolution process. Last year, the civic body launched a dedicated mobile application, Pothole QuickFix, which allowed citizens to report potholes by uploading photographs and location details.
According to the municipal corporation, the application received a positive response from residents. However, citizens were required to use different platforms for complaints relating to various civic departments.
To streamline the process, BMC has now integrated the Pothole QuickFix application into the MyBMC MARG system, creating a single platform for registering a wide range of municipal complaints.
The BMC said the MyBMC MARG platform allows residents to register complaints related to road potholes, solid waste management, sewage issues, water supply, road maintenance, gardens and parks, public health, pest control, encroachments, street lighting and several other municipal services.
The civic body noted that the platform is designed to simplify grievance registration while improving transparency in the complaint resolution process.
According to BMC, residents using the platform can register complaints, upload supporting photographs, monitor the status of complaints, track action taken by the concerned department and receive updates once a complaint has been resolved.
The corporation said that integrating multiple services into a single system enables citizens to follow the progress of their complaints from registration to resolution through one interface.
For pothole-related complaints, BMC has advised citizens to provide a clear photograph of the pothole, its exact location and other relevant details to help departments verify complaints and undertake repairs more quickly.
The MyBMC MARG application is available for download on both Android and iOS devices through the Google Play Store and Apple's App Store.
BMC has urged residents to use the MyBMC MARG platform for registering complaints related to road potholes and other civic issues across the city.
