Mumbai: Two-year-old girl falls to death from 12th floor

A two-year-old girl, Anvika Vivek Prajapati, died after falling from the 12th floor of a residential building in Naigaon East on Tuesday night. The incident occurred around 8 pm, after Anvika's mother had taken her to her relative's flat.

A police officer said, "The mother, who was in a hurry to get back, had placed the child on a shoe rack and was helping her wear her shoes when the girl lost her balance and fell through a window." The mother rushed Anvika to Sir DM Petit Municipal Hospital in Vasai West, where doctors declared her dead before admission.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Pournima Chougule-Shringi said, "Tragically, the child lost her balance and fell out of the window. The girl sustained multiple injuries to her head. We have registered an accidental death report and begun investigating the matter."
