A truck transporting oxygen cylinders overturned on the Bhiwandi-Wada road in Maharashtra's Thane district on Saturday, leaving the driver seriously injured, PTI reported, quoting the police.

The accident occurred near Dugad Phata when the vehicle lost balance while navigating a patch riddled with potholes and uneven surfaces caused by incomplete concretisation work, a local police officer said. The truck veered off the road and flipped over.

"The driver sustained grievous injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital," the officer added.

The oxygen cylinders remained intact. Local residents noted that the stretch has seen a rise in accidents due to the poor condition of the road.
