Rahul Himalian appointed as IRCTC CMD with additional charge

Ministry of Railways has appointed Rahul Himalian, Director (Tourism & Marketing), as the additional Chairman and Managing Director of IRCTC following the resignation of Sanjay Kumar Jain. The appointment takes effect from Monday, July 20

The Ministry of Railways has appointed Rahul Himalian, Director (Tourism & Marketing), Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), with the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Navratna public sector undertaking following the resignation of Sanjay Kumar Jain from the top post.

As per the officials, the additional charge will come into effect from Monday, July 20, 2026.

Rahul Himalian brings more than 26 years of experience in the Indian Railways and IRCTC. He has been serving as a Whole-Time Functional Director on the Board of IRCTC since February 16, 2024.Rahul is an officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) from the 1999 examination batch.

Previous positions held by Rahul Himalian

As Director (Tourism & Marketing), Himalian has been overseeing several key verticals, including Tourism, Information Technology, Human Resource Development, Infrastructure, Administration and Rajbhasha.

During his tenure, he has played a significant role in strengthening IRCTC's tourism and marketing initiatives while also contributing to the organisation's digital and operational growth.

With the additional responsibility as Chairman and Managing Director, Himalian will now lead the corporation's overall operations and strategic direction, while continuing to discharge his existing responsibilities as Director (Tourism & Marketing).

IRCTC, a Schedule 'A' Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, expressed confidence in Himalian's leadership and extended its best wishes as he takes charge of the organisation.

The corporation said it looks forward to achieving new milestones under his leadership as it continues to expand its services in railway catering, online ticketing, tourism and hospitality.
