Apple on Wednesday unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, bringing upgrades to camera performance, graphics, on-device artificial intelligence and overall processing capabilities. The new Pro models are available in four colour options: deep black, silver, glacier blue and burgundy.

The iPhone 18 Pro starts at Rs 1,64,900 while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at Rs 1,79,900.

One of the key highlights of the iPhone 18 Pro is its 48MP Fusion main camera, which Apple says is designed to deliver improved photography and imaging performance.

A20 Pro chip brings faster graphics and AI performance

Powering the new iPhone 18 Pro lineup is Apple's A20 Pro chip, which brings significant upgrades to graphics and artificial intelligence capabilities. Apple claims the new GPU features a 7-core design that delivers up to 40% faster graphics performance, along with increased memory bandwidth.

The chip also introduces new Neural Accelerators, offering up to 2x faster 8FP math, aimed at improving demanding AI and machine-learning workloads directly on the device.

Apple has also expanded the Neural Engine architecture. According to the company, a second Neural Engine has been added, bringing the total to 32 cores. The upgrade is aimed at accelerating advanced on-device AI models and improving the performance of AI-powered features.

Apple highlights wider memory interface

Apple described the A20 Pro as a major step forward for on-device AI and performance. The company said the chip is "the ultimate chip for running advanced on-device models," while also highlighting that it features the widest memory interface ever shipped in an iPhone.

The combination of increased bandwidth, a more powerful GPU and an expanded Neural Engine is expected to help the iPhone 18 Pro series handle graphics-intensive applications and increasingly sophisticated AI workloads more efficiently.

With the new 48MP Fusion camera, A20 Pro chip and four new colour options, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max mark a significant upgrade to Apple's premium smartphone lineup.
