The 25-year-old had been hired to furnish the Cuffe Parade-based woman’s Lavasa home last month; he continued to send her lewd messages even after finishing the work
The police have arrested a 25-year-old carpenter from Panvel for allegedly sending pornographic video clips to a Cuffe Parade-based celebrity interior designer.
The woman had hired him for work on her house in Lavasa. She had shared her cellphone number with the carpenter to stay in touch with him during the course of the work, but after its completion, he allegedly began sending her porn clips.

The police said the complainant had hired Amit Kumar alias Shri Rambali Gautam last month to furnish her house in Lavasa.
However, after he wrapped up the work on March 17, he continued to send her messages on WhatsApp.
“Initially, the complainant responded to his messages, but she was shocked when he started sending her porn clips. She said he sent her four porn videos in all,” said an officer at the Cuffe Parade police station.
The woman then approached the police and lodged a complaint under sections 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the IPC and 67 (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act.

After looking to the carpenter’s call records, the police arrested him from his Panvel residence on Monday. They also seized the cellphone through which he allegedly sent porn clips.
“When we checked his WhatsApp chat history, we found that he had deleted those videos, but same clips videos were found on the complainant’s cellphone, sent from his number. We will recover the deleted videos with the help of the forensic laboratory and use them as evidence against him,” another officer said.
The carpenter, who hails from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, was remanded in jail custody by a local court till March 31.
