New Delhi: The Rajya Sabha was disrupted on Tuesday as some members sought a debate over language issue in UPSC exams, forcing two adjournments, the second till noon.

Opposition members have alleged that the UPSC exams discriminate against students of regional languages.

The government on Monday put an end to the initial controversy over English comprehension in the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT).

Several members from non-HIndi speaking states had on Monday said there had been discrimination against regional languages and students should be allowed to write the UPSC exam in all national languages.

As members agitated, an angry Chairman Hamid Ansari said he would not allow a debate without proper notice.

AIADMK members also trooped near the chairman's podium.

In the din, the house was first briefly adjourned and then till noon.
