Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to continue across northeastern states and Maharashtra for the next three days, an IMD weather bulletin said on Sunday

The Southwest Monsoon has started to withdraw from parts of Rajasthan on Sunday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The weather department said on Sunday that the conditions were favourable for further withdrawal from other areas of Rajasthan, as well as parts of Punjab and Gujarat, over the next two to three days.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to continue across northeastern states and Maharashtra for the next three days, a weather bulletin said.
In the past 24 hours (till 8:30 am on 14th September), several states experienced intense rainfall, it said.
Extremely heavy rainfall was reported in Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, and Himachal Pradesh. Very heavy rainfall (12–20 cm) occurred in Telangana, Konkan and Goa, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, and Marathwada, the weather department's bulletin said.
Heavy rainfall (7–11 cm) was observed in parts of Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Gujarat Region, Uttarakhand, East Madhya Pradesh, and Madhya Maharashtra, the bulletin further stated.
"A low Pressure area over north Telangana and adjoining Vidarbha persisted at 0830 hrs on Sunday, the September 14. The associated cyclonic circulation now extends up to 4.5 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. It is likely to move west-northwestwards towards central parts of Vidarbha and neighbourhood. Thereafter, it is likely to move nearly northwards as a remanent upper air cyclonic circulation," the IMD bulletin said.
It said that a low-pressure area persists over north Telangana and adjoining Vidarbha. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and then shift northwards as an upper air cyclonic circulation.
A trough extends from this low-pressure area to the south Maharashtra coast, affecting weather across North Interior Karnataka.
Cyclonic circulations are also present over -- Central Assam, Southeast Bay of Bengal and Westcentral and Northwest Arabian Sea.
"Light/moderate rain/thunderstorm at most/many places with isolated heavy rainfall likely over Arunachal Pradesh on September 14 and 17; Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on September 15 and 16 and during 18th -20th September with very heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh on 15th and 16th; Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura," the weather department's bulletin said.
Fishermen warning
The IMD said that fFishermen are advised not to venture into the following areas-
Arabian Sea : Westcentral and adjoining southwest, along and off Somalia coast during September 14 to 19. Along and off Oman-Yemen coasts during September 16-18. Along and off Oman coast on September 14 and 18.
Northwest and adjoining Westcentral Arabian Sea: Adjoining sea area on September 16.
Eastcentral Arabian Sea: Along and off Konkan and Goa coast on September 15.
Bay of Bengal: Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Comorin area, over few parts of southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining sea areas, along and off Sri Lanka coast during September 14 and 19.
