Priyanka Chopra marked the birth anniversary of late actor Sridevi with a heartfelt tribute, giving fans a first glimpse at the cover of Empress: The Definitive Biography of Sridevi. The upcoming book promises to chronicle the legendary actor's extraordinary career, personal journey and lasting influence on Indian cinema.
Taking to Instagram Stories, Priyanka shared the cover of the biography, which has been authored by Dhiraj U. Kumarr and published by Westland Books. The book is currently listed as "coming soon".
Sharing the announcement, Priyanka wrote, "The one and only. You are so missed. Happy heavenly birthday Sridevi Empress....coming soon."
The cover carries a special endorsement from megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who describes Sridevi as "The epitome of unmitigated talent". Priyanka's tribute comes as fans and members of the film fraternity remember the late actor on her birth anniversary.
Sridevi's husband, filmmaker Boney Kapoor, also reshared Priyanka's post on his Instagram Stories, adding another emotional touch to the tribute.
Westland Books had announced the official biography in 2023. Empress is expected to explore the many chapters of Sridevi's life, from her beginnings as a child artiste to becoming one of the most celebrated leading ladies in Bollywood.
Sridevi began her acting journey remarkably young, making her screen debut at the age of four in the 1967 Tamil film Kandhan Karunai. She later made her Bollywood debut with Rani Mera Naam in 1972.
Over the following decades, she established herself as one of Indian cinema's most versatile and commercially successful performers. From dramatic roles to comedy and dance-driven performances, Sridevi commanded the screen during the 1980s and 1990s, earning a devoted fan base across generations.
She married Boney Kapoor in 1996, and the couple welcomed daughters Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor, both of whom have since entered Bollywood as actors.
Sridevi was honoured with several prestigious awards during her career and received the Padma Shri in 2013. Her sudden death in Dubai in 2018 left the film industry and her fans mourning the loss of one of its most iconic performers.
With Empress: The Definitive Biography of Sridevi, her life and legacy are set to receive another detailed retelling, keeping alive the story of an actor whose influence continues to be felt years after her passing.
