Akanksha Chamola has opened up about the current status of her relationship with husband Gaurav Khanna following her elimination from Lock Upp. Addressing months of speculation surrounding their marriage, the actress revealed that their divorce proceedings are nearly complete, adding that only the legal formalities remain.
Speaking after her exit from the reality show during the Janta byte at Netflix office, Akanksha candidly discussed the future of her marriage and admitted that both she and Gaurav have mutually decided to part ways. Reflecting on the process, she said, "We just have to sign the papers."
The actress explained that there is no bitterness between them and that the decision has been taken after careful thought. "It's mutual. There is no drama or hatred. Sometimes two people are just better off on different paths," she said, adding that they continue to respect each other despite choosing to separate.
Akanksha also addressed the rumours that frequently surfaced during her stint on Lock Upp. Throughout the season, several contestants speculated about her personal life, with some questioning the status of her marriage. She maintained that she preferred not to respond to every allegation inside the house because the matter was deeply personal.
"People kept making assumptions, but I knew the truth. I didn't want to justify my personal life to everyone," she said.
The actress further revealed that both families are aware of the decision and have been supportive during this difficult phase. According to Akanksha, ending a marriage is never easy, but sometimes it is the healthiest choice for both individuals.
She also expressed gratitude to fans who stood by her throughout her Lock Upp journey. "Thank you to everyone who supported me. The love I received gave me strength during one of the most challenging phases of my life," she shared.
