Police have arrested three men for allegedly murdering a man in Palghar district of Maharashtra, officials said on Friday, adding that the investigation also led to the arrest of three other individuals who were wanted in a separate criminal case, reported the PTI.
The action was taken by the Mira-Bhayander Vasai-Virar Police following the killing of a man near a bar in Nalasopara West.
According to police, the victim, Shubham alias Baba Premshankar Mishra, was attacked and killed by a group of men on February 20.
Following the incident, a special investigation was launched by the crime branch to identify and trace those involved in the murder, according to the PTI.
Police first arrested Sunil Gyanoba Malusare, also known as Bigshow, 28, on March 2 for his alleged involvement in the murder.
Further investigation led to the arrest of Jagan Mayandi Patkatiyar (27) and Sharan Murgan (25).
Senior Police Inspector Shahuraj Ranawre from Crime Unit III in Virar said one of the accused had a dispute with the victim, which is believed to have led to the attack.
While tracking accused Patkatiyar, police found him in the company of three other individuals who were already wanted in another criminal case.
The men were identified as Ajay Amod Mishra (26), Prishit alias Deepak Shrimohan Pal (27) and Sunny alias Abhishek Mahendra Tak (26), as per the PTI.
Police said the trio were wanted in several offences, including an attempt to murder case registered at Achole Police Station.
Officials said further investigation is underway to determine the full sequence of events and whether more individuals were involved in the murder.
Police are also verifying the criminal background of the arrested accused and examining their role in other offences.
Meanwhile, in an another incident earlier this week, Mumbai Police have arrested a man for abetment to suicide after a 24-year-old woman from Wadala was found dead at her home on March 9.
Officials from the Antop Hill police station said a case has been registered against the man under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita following a complaint filed by the woman's family.
According to police, the woman was found unresponsive in her room by her parents on Sunday morning. She was rushed to Sion Hospital, where doctors declared her dead before admission.
In the complaint, the woman's father alleged that the accused had been in a relationship with his daughter and had subjected her to verbal abuse and humiliation.
The family claimed that the suspect allegedly made derogatory remarks about her character, causing severe emotional distress.
During the investigation, police recovered a six-page handwritten letter from the woman's room.
Following the complaint, officers registered an FIR and arrested the accused on Tuesday. He was produced before a court and remanded to one day of police custody.
Police said the accused works as an insurance broker, and further investigation into the case is ongoing.
