The Maharashtra government has approved a set of large-scale industrial proposals worth Rs 2.56 lakh crore, aiming to accelerate investment inflows and generate significant employment across the state. The decision, taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, covers 18 mega and ultra-mega projects spanning emerging and core industrial sectors.
According to officials, the projects are expected to create more than 1 lakh direct and indirect jobs, while also strengthening the state's position as a manufacturing and technology hub.
The approved projects are concentrated in sectors such as renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, electric mobility, defence equipment, and green fuels. These include solar manufacturing, lithium-ion batteries, electric vehicle components, green steel, green ammonia, and gas-to-chemical production.
The proposals were cleared during the 14th meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Industries, Energy, Labour and Mining, attended by senior ministers and top bureaucrats. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Industries Minister Uday Samant were among those present.
Officials indicated that the focus on clean energy and high-technology manufacturing aligns with broader efforts to position Maharashtra as a preferred destination for future-ready industries.
Several large investments are spread across regions including Vidarbha, Marathwada, Konkan and western Maharashtra, with an emphasis on balanced regional development.
Among the notable proposals, Essar Exploration and Production Ltd. will invest Rs 56,852 crore in Raigad, expected to generate around 25,000 jobs. Rashmi Metallurgical Industries Pvt. Ltd. plans a Rs 40,000 crore project in Gadchiroli, creating an estimated 20,000 jobs.
ACME Cleantech Solutions Pvt. Ltd. has proposed multiple investments, including a Rs 37,800 crore green ammonia project and a Rs 11,400 crore green steel project, together expected to generate thousands of jobs. Similarly, Godavari New Energy Pvt. Ltd. will invest Rs 27,515 crore in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Other key projects include investments by Globe Forge Limited (Rs 15,430 crore), Solar Defence and Aerospace Ltd. (Rs 12,780 crore), and Ashok Leyland Ltd. (Rs 10,000 crore).
Mid-sized projects have also been approved, such as Jabil Circuit India Pvt. Ltd. in Pune, Eurobus India Pvt. Ltd. in Talegaon, and Nidec Global Appliances India Pvt. Ltd. in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, contributing to job creation in the manufacturing sector.
Officials said the projects are expected to stimulate local economies by improving industrial infrastructure and creating opportunities for ancillary industries, particularly micro, small and medium enterprises.
The government also expects these investments to strengthen supply chains, encourage research and development, and enhance skill development among the workforce. Industrial activity in districts such as Gadchiroli and Chandrapur is likely to receive a boost, potentially contributing to more balanced economic growth across the state.
