Maharashtra continued to witness hot and mostly dry conditions on Wednesday, with Vidarbha reeling under intense heat and Brahmapuri recording the state's highest maximum temperature at 44.0 degrees Celsius, according to the latest weather data.

Pune sees clear to partly cloudy skies

In Pune (Shivajinagar), the day began with a mainly clear sky, which is expected to turn partly cloudy towards the afternoon and evening, with a possibility of lightning and light rain in isolated areas.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 36 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Dry conditions persist in Pune

The city continues to remain largely dry, with 0.0 millimetres of rainfall recorded during all observation periods. The seasonal rainfall deficit stands at -10.9 millimetres, against a normal of 10.9 millimetres, indicating a continued shortfall.

Vidarbha records extreme heat

Vidarbha remained the hottest region in the state, with several locations crossing the 40 degrees Celsius mark:

Brahmapuri: 44.0 degrees Celsius (highest in Maharashtra)
Akola: 42.4 degrees Celsius
Nagpur: 42.0 degrees Celsius
Wardha: 42.7 degrees Celsius
Amravati: 41.6 degrees Celsius
Chandrapur: 40.6 degrees Celsius
Yavatmal: 40.8 degrees Celsius

Mahabaleshwar remains coolest

Mahabaleshwar recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 18.7 degrees Celsius, offering mild relief compared to the rest of Maharashtra.

Humidity levels moderate

Relative humidity levels in Pune ranged from 65 per cent in the morning to around 45 per cent later in the day, indicating moderately humid conditions.

Meteorological data suggests hot daytime conditions across most of Maharashtra, with Vidarbha continuing to remain the most heat-affected region, while Pune may witness brief cloud formation with isolated light rain activity.

Rainfall recorded across Mumbai

Meanwhile, Mumbai on Wednesday morning witnessed pre-monsoon showers.

According to rainfall data recorded between 7 am and 8 am on June 3, 2026, the city received light to moderate showers in several areas.

The average rainfall recorded during the one-hour period stood at 0.96 mm in the city, 9.84 mm in the western suburbs, and 1.25 mm in the eastern suburbs.

Among city locations, Kalakilla Municipal School recorded 10 mm of rainfall.

In the eastern suburbs, M West Ward recorded 12 mm of rainfall.

The western suburbs witnessed the highest rainfall activity, with Versova Pumping Station recording 69 mm, followed by Cooper Hospital (52 mm), K East Ward (49 mm), K West Ward (46 mm), Malpa Dongri School (39 mm), Vile Parle Fire Station (33 mm), SWM Santacruz Workshop (30 mm), Nariyalwadi School, Santacruz (26 mm), Chakala Municipal School (17 mm) and BKC Fire Station (16 mm).

Mumbai records satisfactory air quality

Despite the hot and humid weather, Mumbai's air quality remained in the 'satisfactory' category on Wednesday.

According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) Sameer App, the city's Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 59, indicating minimal impact on public health.
