The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday has directed that key infrastructure and civic projects in the western suburbs, including the Mrinaltai Gore Flyover, the Oshiwara Maternity Home, and the Oshiwara Crematorium, will be expedited to ensure timely completion and early public access.
Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi issued the directions on May 29 after conducting an on-site inspection of the three ongoing projects on May 29. Ghadi reviewed the status of construction work and instructed officials to accelerate pending activities while maintaining quality standards.
As per the official statement, the Mrinaltai Gore Flyover connecting Goregaon to Ram Mandir is already in its final phase of completion, with nearly 90 to 95 per cent of the work already finished.
The Deputy Mayor, while taking a note of the ongoing work, emphasised that the bridge should be opened to traffic at the earliest, particularly before the onset of the monsoon, once all remaining works and safety checks are completed.
He also reviewed ancillary works on the flyover, including road resurfacing, installation of signage, lighting systems, speed breakers, lane markings, and painting of railings. Officials stated that noise barriers have been installed on both sides of the bridge to reduce disturbance to nearby residential areas. Load testing and final finishing works are currently underway.
During the inspection, the Deputy Mayor also directed traffic management measures to ease congestion in the surrounding areas, noting that the flyover is expected to significantly improve connectivity once operational.
Ghadi further inspected the Oshiwara Maternity Home project, which is being developed as a 152-bed facility. The upcoming hospital is expected to include specialised units such as a surgical department, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), dialysis services, and CT scan facilities, along with residential quarters for medical staff.
As per the official statement, "The project is progressing at a fast pace, and the Deputy Mayor has instructed that construction be completed within the stipulated timeline and to high-quality standards so that advanced healthcare services can be made available to residents without delay."
Ghadi also reviewed the progress of the Oshiwara Crematorium, where certain works remain pending. He directed concerned departments to complete all remaining tasks, both major and minor, within the next 15 days and ensure that essential facilities are made available to the public at the earliest.
Along with Sanjay Ghadi, senior civic officials, including Assistant Commissioners from P-North and P-South wards and the Medical Health Officer, were also present during the inspection.
The civic body also highlighted that the focus remains on completing critical infrastructure and public utility projects as a priority to improve urban services in the western suburbs.
