A fire broke out on Wednesday at the Mumbai Metro Line 3 (Aqualine) station at CSMIA Terminal 2, following which there was a brief disruption in services and precautionary evacuation, officials said.
The blaze was reported on Wednesday afternoon in the technical room of the underground station at T2 Airport Metro Station in Andheri (East), they said.
The incident was reported at 16:13 hrs through the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) control room.
Firefighters rushed to the spot and managed to extinguish the blaze by 4:30 pm.
"Three fire engines and two jumbo tankers were rushed to the spot," said an official.
The officials later confirmed that the fire was contained within the technical area and did not spread to passenger sections of the station.
Following the alert, multiple agencies were mobilised, including the Mumbai Fire Brigade, Adani Energy teams, Mumbai Police, and 108 ambulance services as a precautionary measure.
No injuries were reported in the incident, the officials said.
Train operations between Sahar Road Metro Station and Aarey Metro Station were temporarily affected due to the incident, sources said.
However, metro services have since resumed normal operations after the situation was stabilised.
Officials stated that the smoke incident was minor and swiftly managed, ensuring there was no major disruption or safety risk to commuters.
The authorities reassured that systems were functioning normally and travel has returned to schedule.
