A team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday visited the residence of former district judge Giribala Singh, who is accused in the Twisha Sharma dowry harassment case, and recreated the crime scene as part of the ongoing investigation, ANI reported.
During the exercise, the team used a dummy body to gather crucial evidence in the presence of the accused, Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh.
Meanwhile, a silent protest was organised on Sunday demanding justice for Twisha Sharma, who died in Bhopal on May 12 after allegedly facing mental torture and dowry harassment by her husband and in-laws.
Twisha Sharma, a resident of Noida, married Bhopal resident Samarth Singh in December 2025. Following her death, her family alleged that she was subjected to dowry-related harassment by her husband and his family.
The case includes serious charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961.
Speaking to ANI, Twisha's brother, Major Harshit Sharma, said the family believes the truth will emerge through the investigation.
"This case is no longer only about Twisha. We are gathered here today to express the unity and support we are receiving. So many people have come forward to stand with us. A gathering was organised by the society, and we are here to attend it. We have full faith that the truth will come out," he said.
Earlier, on May 29, the ashes of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma were immersed in the Ganga River in Rishikesh.
Her father, Navnidhi Sharma, said his daughter had a deep emotional connection with Rishikesh and the Ganga River, ANI reported.
"All her cousins and close friends were present for the ritual," he said, IANS reported.
Twisha's father alleged that her husband and mother-in-law had "destroyed the purest form of love" in his life.
"Today, I want to say that this fight is far from over; it will continue until she gets justice. Now that the CBI has taken over the investigation, our hopes have risen significantly. We will see how the case progresses further," he added, IANS reported.
In a significant development, the Bhopal District Court sent former judge Giribala Singh and her son, Samarth Singh, to five-day CBI custody till June 2.
Special Judge Shobhana Bhalave allowed the CBI to take both accused into custody for further interrogation in connection with the case.
