Aamir Khan reveals how he got 'Mr Perfectionist' tag

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is known as Mr Perfectionist. But have you ever wondered how he got this tag? In the upcoming episode of 'The Great Indian Kapil Show', Aamir Khan will be seen marking his presence, sharing anecdotes from his life. During the conversation, he also revealed that it was veteran actor Shabana Azmi who gave him Mr Perfectionist tag, as per a note shared by the Netflix team. It dates back to the time when Aamir was shooting for Dil which was directed by Indra Kumar and the cameraman was Baba Azmi. They were having a deep discussion about films at Baba Azmi's house when Shabana Azmi offered Aamir tea and asked how much sugar would he take in his tea. Super engrossed in his conversation, Aamir turned to her and said "How big is the glass?" When she showed him how big the cup was, Aamir, still engrossed in the ongoing conversation, trying his best to answer her accurately, said, " Chamcha kitna bada hai?" and finally requested for one spoon of sugar in his tea. He spoke about how Shabana Azmi went around telling people about this incident saying if you ever ask Aamir for sugar in his tea, he will first ask you for the cup size and that's how he got the Mr Perfectionist tag. Meanwhile, on the film front, as a producer, Aamir is coming up with 'Lahore 1947', which stars Sunny Deol in the lead role. It is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol and Ali Fazal are also part of the film. Sunny and Aamir have never worked together before. But the duo have had very iconic box-office clashes as competitors in the past, where both have eventually emerged victorious. The first iconic clash at the ticket window was witnessed in 1990 when Aamir Khan's Dil and Sunny Deol's Ghayal were released on the same day. Then, in 1996, it was 'Raja Hindustani' vs 'Ghatak' followed by the most epic Box Office clash of Indian cinema in 2001 when 'Lagaan' was released on the same day as 'Gadar'.Now, for the very first time, the duo has come together and joined hands on a project.'Lahore, 1947' also marks the reunion of Aamir Khan and Santoshi after their iconic cult classic, 'Andaz Apna Apna'.

Sara Ali Khan, Ayushmann Khurrana and Karan Johar

Have you heard? A fun spy thriller next

Buzz in B-Town is that Ayushmann Khurrana has bagged his first film with Karan Johar. Co-produced by Guneet Monga, the yet-untitled project is said to be a spy comedy helmed by Aakash Kaushik. The makers felt that the actor is the right fit for the script that is a perfect mix of edge-of-the seat moments and humour. “It is a film with scale, thrills, action and plenty of comedy,” says a source. He further shares that breaking the predictable norms of the spy genre, it will be a quintessential Ayushmann film with a message. The makers are in talks with Sara Ali Khan to play the leading lady. They are also expected to make an official announcement and reveal the title in the coming days, even though filming is slated to begin only after a few months.    Chalo Delhi Aamir Khan is leaving no stone unturned in the making of his next, Sitaare Zameen Par. Director RS Prasanna’s adaption of the Spanish sports drama, Campeones (2018) is centred on the Paralympic Games with the actor-producer playing a basketball coach. Come May, Aamir and the team will head to Delhi for a month-long shoot, undeterred by the rising mercury in the capital. They will film at landmark locations like Red Fort, Lodhi Gardens, Tyagraj Stadium and parts of Old Delhi. The actor-producer is planning to bring the inspiring story to screens during Christmas 2024. Question time Tamannaah Bhatia has reportedly been summoned before the Maharashtra Cyber for questioning in connection with the illegal streaming of the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament last year on an app that resulted in a huge financial loss to the official rights holder. The Babli Bouncer (2022) actor has been asked to report before the Maharashtra Cyber on April 29. She is not the only one to be questioned in this case. Sanjay Dutt was also summoned on April 23, but he couldn’t appear as he was out of the country. Consequently, the Leo actor has sought another date from the authorities. It is being said that Tammy and Sanju allegedly promoted and endorsed Fairplay app, a subsidiary of the controversial Mahadev betting app.  Meera’s heavy duty act While shooting a wedding sequence can be fun, it proved to be a difficult affair for Meera Deosthale. While filming the extensive portions of her character Nandini’s wedding with Naren (played by Zaan Khan) for the television show, Kuch Reet Jagat Ki Aisi Hai, the actor had to wear a traditional Gujarati panetar lehenga adorned with detailed embroidery. If that wasn’t enough, she also had to add another layer of gad cholo with intricate gold work and jewellery. While sporting Gujarati attire was a special feeling, Meera says, “I wore this [creation] for 20 to 25 days. The panetar lehenga was heavy; along with the gad cholo and jewellery, it all collectively weighed 35 kilos.” Conceding that it was almost impossible to walk around in it, the actor adds, “Sometimes I couldn’t even move, but despite the challenges, it was an interesting experience.” At the end of it all, it appears that she is done with heavy outfits for life. “Now, I feel that when I get married, I will wear a simple dress,” she signs off. Overwhelmed and emotional The première of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar turned out to be an emotional affair for Richa Chadha. The actor, who plays Lajjo in the web series, was showered with praise and affection by none other than Rekha for her performance. Seeing Richa overwhelmed, Rekha too had tears in her eyes. Calling it a milestone moment in her career, Richa said, “Receiving praises and love from someone as revered as Rekha ji is a moment I will cherish forever. I couldn’t have asked for bigger validation, my heart is full.” Sharing that her solo mujra in the show is inspired by Rekha’s song, Yeh kya jagah hai doston, from Umrao Jaan, she added, “She has been my inspiration, my hero and she’s the definition of what an icon is. Her kind words and affection towards my performance left me speechless and deeply touched. I will never forget this night and her blessings.” Global glory Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan (2023) has earned a nomination at the Taurus World Stunt Awards, which are referred to as the Oscars for the action genre. The high-octane stunts of Atlee’s directorial venture have been recognised in the Best Stunts category. The other nominees are Hollywood blockbusters like John Wick: Chapter 4, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, Extraction 2, and Ballerina. An extra special song Over 20 years after Ishq Vishk (2003), producer Ramesh Taurani is gearing up for the sequel, Ishq Vishk Rebound. Helmed by Nipun Avinash Dharmadhikari and featuring Rohit Suresh Saraf, Pashmina Roshan, Naila Grrewal and Jibraan Khan, the campus romcom is slated to arrive on June 24. But first, rapper-singer Badshah and director Farah Khan will team up for a special number for the film. “It is an iconic song, recreated with a contemporary twist. Prep has begun and the team will shoot it with the principal cast next week,” said a source. The soundtrack, composed by Rochak Kohli, will be one of the highlights of the film.

Tiger lost his bite?

In 2020, when filmmaker Siddharth Anand announced Rambo with Tiger Shroff, the film seemed right up the action star’s alley. Almost four years on, he was set to begin work on the movie after the release of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. However, things seem to have changed now. With Shroff’s last few releases, including Heropanti 2 (2022) and Ganapath (2023), receiving lukewarm response at the box office, it is heard that Rambo’s makers have decided to shelve the project. A source reveals, “Producer Siddharth and director Rohit Dhawan wanted to mount Rambo on a big budget. While Heropanti 2 and Ganapath failed to set the cash registers ringing, they decided to see the audience’s response to Bade Miyan Chote Miyan before taking a call on Rambo’s feasibility. Since the big-ticket action entertainer had an underwhelming run, Siddharth felt it would be best to park his ambitious film for now.” Since action has been Shroff’s forte in his decade-long career, the last few movies’ lacklustre run has surprised him. Sources say that the actor might slash his fees going forward. The source adds, “He is said to have charged somewhere upwards of Rs 30 crore for Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. The right thing for him would be to reduce his fees.” Meanwhile, the actor has Singham Again and a Karan Johar production in the pipeline.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3

Manjulika’s melody back to haunt you

Where there is Bhool Bhulaiyaa, there has to be Manjulika. And where there is Manjulika, there has to be her trademark song, Ami je tomar. After a quick stint in Kolkata earlier this month, Vidya Balan, Kartik Aaryan, Madhuri Dixit-Nene, and Triptii Dimri have begun shooting the third schedule of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 at Film City in Mumbai. While director Anees Bazmee has lined up some horror and action scenes for the 15-day leg, at the moment, all eyes are on the actors as they shoot the iconic song. In the climax of the 2007 original, Balan’s character was seen assuming the identity of Manjulika and dancing to Ami je tomar. Since then, the song has become a recurring motif in the horror comedy franchise, with Tabu’s dual characters Anjulika and Manjulika as well as Aaryan’s Rooh Baba shaking a leg to it in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022). This time around, we hear composer Amaal Mallik has given his own interpretation to the track.  A source tells us, “In Film City, art director Rajat Poddarr and his team have built a massive set of a vintage mansion as found in West Bengal. Choreographer Chinni Prakash has set the song against this backdrop, visualising it as a classical dance number featuring Kartik, Vidya, Madhuri and Triptii. Like in the last two instalments, the track will come at a critical juncture in the narrative.” After the Mumbai leg is wrapped up by May 10, Bazmee will call for a short break, following which the team will head to Europe for a 10-day schedule to shoot a romantic track with Aaryan and Dimri.
