If you are a turophile who not only wishes to learn the A to Z of cheese but also discover tips and tricks to make drool-worthy dishes, this upcoming workshop at Breach Candy is where you want to be.

While cheese tasting events are all the rage in Mumbai, this fun and exciting workshop takes a dive into the world of artisanal cheeses, led by cheese maker and monger Mansi Jasani, founder, The Cheese Collective.

“The two-hour workshop will provide a glimpse of the art of cheese-making, providing a background on its varieties and diverse classification while learning ways to store, cook and pair them with everyday food items and enjoy its unique taste,” shared Jasani.

Jasani’s passion and love for cheese can be traced to New York; the city opened doors to a whole new world, dripping in cheese, “I felt as if I was in Disneyland,” she remarked. “I want people to enter with an open mind and palate while enjoying various items mindfully in a fun way. I wish to just learn and teach about cheese, eat it and also feed it to others,” she signs off.

What to expect?

1 A guided tasting session led by Jasani to understand the correct order of consuming cheese, from freshest to oldest

2 Try eight varieties of cheese and pair them with spreads, preserves and fruits to understand their unique taste profiles

3 Relish a special mac and cheese recipe made using secret ingredients with some cheesy magic

>> The veins in blue cheese are formed by piercing the cheese with needles, allowing air to enter and enabling the penicillium mould to grow into streaks

>> King Henry II of England’s fondness for cheddar made it a royal staple in the 12th century while taxing the villages in its wheels

>> Queso Coromandel derives its name from the Coromandel Coast that stretches along the coastline of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. It is crafted at The Farm in Chennai.

>> The word ‘Burrata’ comes from the Italian word ‘burro’, meaning butter, owing to its creamy and buttery taste
