Russian Yelena Isinbayeva failed in her bid for an unprecedented third straight Olympic gold in London last night
Jennifer Suhr of the United States took gold in the event with a jump of 4.75m while Cuba’s Yarisley Silva took silver having cleared the same distance. Isinbayeva could manage just 4.70m in the final. Isinbayeva, who turned 30 in June, struggled for form after defending her Olympic title in Beijing, but seemed to be returning to her best in recent meets.
