Hanuman Ansh director confirms sequel as film beats Dhurandhar 2 to become the most profitable movie of 2026

Filmmaker Vishal Chaturvedi's latest film, Hanuman Ansh, is turning out to be a surprise hit at the box office. The spiritual drama released on August 7 has gone on to cross the Rs 50 crore mark at the box office and has emerged as one of the most profitable films of the year. Amid its box-office success, the filmmaker has now confirmed that the team has already begun working on the second part.

Vishal Chaturvedi confirms Hanuman Ansh sequel

Notably, the movie concludes with a slate suggesting that the story of Neem Karoli Baba is yet to be completed, clearly hinting at a sequel. Confirming the news, during a recent interaction with the audiences at a multiplex in Agra, Vishal opened up about plans for the sequel, revealing that the upcoming instalment is set to revolve around the important chapters from Neem Karoli Baba's life. The filmmaker added that the story will focus on his birthplace, Firozabad, before he moved to Agra, Mathura and other locations.

Interestingly, the sequel was a part of the makers' original vision for Hanuman Ansh. When the film was announced back on February 20, 2026, it was revealed as part of a planned trilogy. Notably, the spiritual saga is inspired by Divine Detour, a book written by the director Vishal Chaturvedi. The role of Neem Karoli Baba is played by actor Shobhinaw Satyaa in the film.

Hanuman Ansh becomes the most profitable film of 2026

According to tracking website Sacnilk, Hanuman Ansh has earned around Rs 54.74 crore net in India, while its India gross stands at approximately Rs 64.54 crore. According to reports, the film, which was made on a budget of Rs 2 crore, has already translated into returns of nearly 2,000 per cent of its reported production cost.

The numbers have drawn comparisons with Ranveer Singh's blockbuster Dhurandhar 2, which released earlier this year. While Hanuman Ansh may be far from touching the box office collections of the Aditya Dhar directorial, the returns tell a different story.

Based on trade reports, Dhurandhar 2 generated roughly 1,000 per cent profit. However, Hanuman Ansh has achieved an even higher return with its minuscule Rs 2 crore production cost. While its theatrical earnings are already more than 20 times its reported budget, the profit percentage is fast approaching the 2,000 per cent mark.
