I have been speaking to a girl online for a few months now and recently told her I had feelings for her. She said she didn't feel the same way, and I assumed this would end our communication. Over the past few weeks, however, I get a lot of messages from her, and it feels as if she is willing to talk to me a lot more than she used to. I don't know what to make of this. I am not sure if she is reconsidering her feelings for me, but I don't want to jump to conclusions because it may lead to some misunderstanding. How do I navigate this? If I ask her a direct question and she gets offended, I may lose contact with her permanently. Should I assume she is giving me a second chance?
You shouldn't assume anything if there is no conversation about this because misunderstandings can ruin any relationship. There may be all kinds of reasons for why she is chatting with you a lot more. It's possible that the maturity with which you accepted her decision makes her feel more comfortable around you, and that she is considering the possibility of a friendship. People who chat with you aren't necessarily looking for a romantic relationship. The best thing to do is continue to chat and accept that this is someone who wants to get to know you better. There may be no romantic feelings involved, but you may be able to find a new friend. Also, if you are confused about something, you can always ask a direct question. If she responds by ending contact, that is her prerogative. Be patient and allow this to evolve in its own time.
I have been texting someone online for months, but he doesn't want to be friends in real life. Is this normal?
If you are okay with the online nature of this friendship, you have the right to accept or reject his conditions. Neither of you has any real obligations here.
